Pegasus Airlines selects Rockwell Collins to provide dPAVES™ IFE

HAMBURG, Germany (May 17, 2010) - Pegasus Airlines has selected Rockwell Collins to provide dPAVESTM in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for installation on 31 of its Boeing 737NG aircraft. Deliveries will begin in this year.

"With our IFE expertise, and our long-standing relationships with content creators and distributors, we can help Pegasus Airlines differentiate its cabin and provide premium entertainment to its passengers," explained Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager, Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins.

dPAVES is Rockwell Collins narrow-body IFE solution. At the core of the system is the Broadcast Digital Server (BDS) offering 160 gigabyte storage capability, integrated pre-recorded announcements and music (PRAM) functionality and embedded Airshow Moving Map - all in a single 4 MCU box. The large storage capability of the BDS allows for multiple play periods of entertainment content, and the server automatically selects the new content when the new play period starts.

dPAVES features include:

  • Scalable Architecture - dPAVES installations have resulted in a reduced total cost of ownership versus other IFE solutions. System enhancements are easy and inexpensive to configure at a later date.
  • Route Specific Content - Airlines can select from over 1,000 city-paired IFE programs, perfectly timed for the length of the route. Providing timely and interesting programs to passengers promotes safety by helping to keep passengers in their seats.
  • Plug and Play Line Replaceable Units - The simplicity of dPAVES' system components allows maintenance staff to quickly diagnose and replace parts, cutting down on costly and time consuming repairs.
  • Airshow Moving Map - Airshow, the cutting edge, 3D moving map product, is embedded into the BDS- no additional hardware is required.
  • Airshow Configuration Editor - dPAVES also can be programmed through the Airshow configuration editor (ACE) tool.
  • Hands-off Operation - Fully automated, predefined content sequences will be initiated with the start of the system specific to each route without any operational intervention necessary.
